Avery and I took a trip to Dickson, TN to visit some good friend of ours, Heather and BJ. We took a day trip to Nashville and saw the sights. We had a great time and it was nice catching up with good friends. Heather is 32 weeks pregnant with Baby Ella and we are so excited to meet her soon. Avery keeps telling eveyone that she's gonna teach BJ to change Ella's diapers!

Krewe Of Orion Ball 2007
Shae and I belong to the Krewe of Orion in Baton Rouge and last weekend was the Ball. Here are some pictures from the ball...Avery stayed with my parents for the weekend so she didn't get to partake in the festivities!
Duh, Mom!
Last week when it was sleeting really hard outside, my very inquisitive daughter was a little confused by what was going on....
"Mommy, what's that?" Avery asks me pointing to sleet bouncing off the concrete on the patio.
" That's ice, baby...it's cold outside and the rain is frozen..." I reply.
"Ice???" she asks again in a very confused voice.
"Yes, it's ice..." I answer.
"NO MOMMY....Ice is in the refrigerator...." She answers me in her best 'mom, you are so stupid' tone of voice.
I just smile at her...no way I'm winning this argument!

My Con Artist....
My Con Artist, otherwise known as “ Raisins in the Potty” Story
Ahhh…she’s 2 and a half and already trying to outsmart me! And she’s almost succeeding.
I’m raising a con-artist…I just realized this Sunday night. Let me give you some background on what’s been going on at the Robinson household lately…
Avery’s been potty training and she’s done great. She does have some hang ups about doing #2 in the potty. She tells me sometimes that she can’t do it or that she’s scared to….So I’ve been bribing her to get her to “go” in the potty. I offer Skittles, her favorite candy. I told her she could have 5 Skittles if she did #2 in the potty and she said “Ok, mommy!” and went in the bathroom to try.
Over the course of the next hour or two, she toddled between our 4th bedroom(our office) where I was working and the guest bathroom on that side of the house. I’d hear her flip the lid on the potty and then she’d come back to see what I was doing.
Sometime during this time, she went into the kitchen and asked my husband for some raisins(one of her favorite snacks) and he gave her one of those mini boxes of raisins. She came check on me and asked me to change her baby doll’s diaper (which I did) and then I heard her go back into the bathroom. Then I hear this:
“MOMMY!!! I POO-POO ON POTTY…YEAH! I A BIG GIRL…I SO PROUD OF AVERY! YAY !! YAY!!!!” and then the sounds of her clapping for herself…
I jump up and run into the bathroom, glad that she seemed to finally get getting over her hangup. I walk into the bathroom and look into the potty that she proudly stands in front of. I notice small dark round things in the potty…and start clapping and telling her how proud I am of her accomplishment….
Then I took a closer look…
As I opened the potty seat to dump the contents into the toilet….I noticed that the small dark round things were not what I thought they were…She had dumped her raisins in the potty and tried to pass them off as…..well, you know….
I look over at her and she just grinned at me with the biggest smile and then she said…
“It’s my raisins, mommy!”
At least she’s an honest con when confronted with her web of deceit….
After a lecture about not putting raisins in the toilet and not lying to her mother just to get Skittles, she ran off to play and I went back to work…..
And I’m happy to report that yesterday she actually got her Skittles….no raisins that time!

A girl, a dog and a diaper...
See above post for pics for this story!
Avery got some diapers for her baby dolls for Christmas (thanks you to my sister, Krista!) so she's been putting diapers on all of her baby dolls. New Years day we were all laying around in the living room, digesting the HUGE meal I had just made. We were snuggling under the electric blanket in the living room.
Max had been laying on the blanket with us. Something about the heat from that blanket makes Max sleepy and he just laid there while Avery tortured him. She grabbed a doll diaper and here's the dialogue:
Avery: "Okay Max, time for your Diaper! Come here and lay down like a good boy!"(grabs Max's legs, flips him over and now he's laying on his back, not moving... accepting his fate)
Me: "Avery don't hurt Max, play nice with him"
Avery: "Mommy, what's that? What's that? What's that?" (She's begun asking questions several times in a row, not allowing any time for me to respond between questions)
Me: (sigh) "That's where Max tee-tee's from...NOW STOP TOUCHING IT!" (Max is still on his back, not moving...I think he is liking this! EWWWW!!!!)
Avery: "Oh"
She then pretends to dab at Max's private area with a fake baby doll wipe and then she grabs the doll diaper and does a pretty good job of putting it on him.
Avery: "There you go Max, Now don't poo-poo in your diaper, go to the potty like a big girl"
Max still laying on his back, not moving, paralyzed by the heat from the electric blanket. I guess he'd rather be diapered like a baby than get away from the intoxicating warmth of electic heat.
Later in the day, he was still laying on the blanket, wearing the doll diaper until I took it off of him when he asked to go outside.
Newy Years Eve
Every year, Shae and I usually go to a party and leave Avery behind. This year, we just decided to stay home and have a quiet night and ring in the New Year with her. We built a fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and popped some quiet fireworks(i.e. sparklers and roman candles) Avery thought it was the BEST thing ever. Look at the smiles on her face!
Hope everyone had a good New Years!
