Bedtime is becoming a fiasco in our house. Avery has always been a good sleeper. But lately she has been trying to delay bedtime as much as possible. She's very aware that bedtime is approaching. She'll say:
"Dark, Mommy, Dark outside, time for night-night!"
I give her a bath and put on PJ's and help her brush her teeth and potty...Then the games begin...
"Mommy, Avery na-night SOFA!" as she crawls up on the sofa either by herself or next to Shae...
"Nope, Avery has to sleep in HER bed!" I counter back to her.
"Okay MOMMY! Avery night-night Mommy and Daddy's bed!" (She's never slept in our bed so I'm not sure why she thinks she will start)
"Nope!" I reply.
I pick her up and bring her into her room and lay her in bed.
"Mommy, Need Milk, Mommy!" she wails..Now she's eaten a good dinner and we usually get a little snack before bedtime and a drink of water after she brushes her teeth. So she's not thirsty, just stalling....But I go get a sippy cup of water for her reguardless.
"Kiss me goodnight now!" I say, hoping to end this game. I lean down to kiss her. She puckers up her lips
"No MOMMY, Avery watch Wiggles!" she says with big hopeful eyes.
"Nope, the Wiggles are going Night-Night too."
"Mommy going Night-Night too?" she asks me.
"Yes, Mommy is going Night-Night too!"
"Daddy go Night-Night too?" again, big dramatic eyes...(Oh she's gonna kill boys with those eyes one day! She's irresistible!)
Yes, baby, Daddy go Night-Night too...Everybody is going Night-Night"
"Max go Night-Night????" again with those eyes.
Yes, baby! Mommy LOVES YOU! I lean forward to kiss her one more time..she puckers up.
"You go to sleep now," as I tuck a blanket around her, waiting for the next stall tactic.
"After mommy leaves. Mommy go."
I'm rolling on the floor laughing at this point...One second she's trying her hardest to keep me in her room, to prevent bedtime, the next she's telling me to go..she's figured that the stalling will not work...she's releasing me from the game.
She's hilarious. Constant entertainment....
